Tuition and Fee Waiver

Students who are currently or were formerly under the conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS), including those adopted from DFPS, may be eligible for a tuition and fee exemption.

To determine your eligibility, contact the Department of Family and Protective Services and request Form 1810: DFPS Verification of the State College Tuition and Fee Waiver. Current or prospective Victoria College students should refer to the right-hand column under ‘Contact Us’ to identify the appropriate DFPS staff representative who can assist with verifying and accessing the tuition waiver.

Once you obtain your Form 1810, submit it to the Payments Office, located in the Student Services Building (#8 on VC's campus map), so the tuition waiver can be applied to your eligible semester(s) of enrollment.

Foster Love

Foster Love in partnership with Victoria College offers financial support for college students with foster care experience. Contact VC's  Foster Care Liaison, Brittani Cervantez at Brittani.Cervantez@VictoriaCollege.edu or (361) 582-2452, to learn more about available support services.

The THECB Tuition and Fee Waiver video describes the eligibility criteria and how it can be used.  The video was designed by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board partnered with Sam Houston State University, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS), and other Texas agencies.

How do I get a Tuition and Fee Waiver letter?

State PAL staff or Adoption Eligibility Assistance staff will give you a signed college Tuition and Fee Waiver letter to take to the school registrar's office. Participation in PAL services are not required to be eligible for the tuition and fee waiver.
